Full-Time Temporary Yard Hand - Transfer Station (Central Picton) - Leading to Permanent Opportunity with a National Reputable Employer

A leading national company operating a busy transfer station requires a dedicated Full-Time Temporary Yard Hand to join their supportive and close-knit small team. You will initially be responsible for maintaining the holding bays where various types of waste (both dry and wet) are temporarily stored.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and maintaining waste bins.
- Changing lids and applying stickers to bins as required.
- General yard maintenance, including sweeping and keeping the area tidy and safe.
- Assisting with the organization of waste within the holding bays.
- Operating a forklift (ideal, but not essential - training may be provided for the right candidate).
- Other general yard duties as required.
Transition to Permanent Full-Time & Growth Opportunity:
This is initially a full-time temporary position with the strong intention for the successful candidate to transition into a permanent full-time role following a probationary period (typically around 6 months, or potentially sooner based on performance). Our client is committed to the development of their team, and upon becoming permanent, the right candidate will have opportunities to learn more aspects of the transfer station operations and take on increased responsibilities.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (including a 30-minute unpaid break)
- Potential overtime opportunities available on Saturdays where they are open till 12pm/midday
Compensation & Benefits:
- Full-Time Temporary/Casual Hourly Rate: $39.38
- Opportunity to transition to a permanent full-time position with a rate of $31.50 per hour.
- Uniform provided: Pants, shirts, wet weather gear (rain jacket), and hats for all weather conditions.
Requirements:
- Must possess your own steel-capped boots.
- A forklift license is highly desirable but not essential.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude.
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills and take on more responsibility within a supportive team environment.
- Must be willing to transition to a permanent full-time position if successful during the temporary period.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
