Work Permit Officer

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Work Permit Officer to manage approvals and inspections for road reserve works and stormwater connections. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with engineering standards, legislation, and Council policies while protecting public infrastructure and coordinating with a range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre- and post-construction inspections and prepare reports on road reserve and footway conditions.
- Design and assess Vehicular Footway Crossings (VFC) and footpaving constructions.
- Issue permits, including:
- Street Boundary Alignment Levels
- Road Opening Permits
- Standing Plant/Crane/Concrete Pump Permits
- Hoarding Permits
- Approve stormwater connection applications and civil drainage works associated with private developments.
- Assess and approve road pavement, kerb & gutter construction, and other civil works within footways and road reserves.
- Monitor building construction sites to safeguard Council assets and ensure compliance with approved Traffic Control Plans.
- Collaborate with Council's Landscape Architects on CBD landscaping projects.
- Follow up on builder-related damages and coordinate cost recovery.
- Liaise with applicants, developers, public utility authorities, and other stakeholders.
About You
You are a motivated professional with:
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards and technical specifications.
- Experience in approvals, inspections, and stakeholder coordination.
- Familiarity with traffic control plans and legal compliance.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach to protecting public infrastructure.
