About the Role:
As the Warehouse Operations Manager, you will be crucial in controlling the daily operations of the warehouse and pick & pack sections, including all receipt and distribution activities. Key Responsibilities:
- Overall management and maintenance of client stock within the warehouse.
- Manage R&M requirements for all equipment and vehicles.
- Ensure all processes and procedures are fully developed, clearly written, and adhered to by facility operatives; arrange/provide staff training as required.
- Schedule all work into the warehouse to ensure balanced work flows that meet customer and business time lines.
- Determine and arrange for weekly and daily labor and vehicle requirements.
- Maintain records of work performed to facilitate accurate invoicing of clients, reporting of Key Performance Indicators, and preparation of relevant management information reports.
- Ensure all instances of service failure or loss of or damage to goods are investigated, and develop and implement remedial action to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and maintain a professional and motivated employee team by conducting regular communication and counselling activities and employing effective team building and leadership techniques.
- Eliminate downtime due to accident, injury, or work-related illness by ensuring the implementation and maintenance of safe working practices and procedures.
- Provide a continuous communication focal point for both internal and external customers to enable prompt implementation of contingency actions in the event of any impediment to operations.
- Compliance with company policies and responsibilities relating to OH&S, EEO, EMS, and Quality.
Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of warehousing and distribution best practices
- Ability to determine manpower and equipment to meet scheduled workloads and minimise costs
- Sound computer skills and abilities in using computerised warehouse management systems
- Working knowledge of the relevant site award
- Understanding of Quality Management and Continuous Improvement concepts
- Strong service orientation and related skills
- Ability to quickly develop customer product knowledge
- Working knowledge and ability to implement quality systems and procedures
- Proven problem-solving ability with a solutions orientation
- Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation impacting the role and the business
- Understanding of basic profit and loss and balance sheet concepts
- Understanding of the use of Key Performance Indicators in the management of a business unit
Qualifications:
- Higher School Certificate or equivalent preferred
- A certificate qualification in Logistics management or a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution OR a preparedness to undertake such study to complement the role and business requirements
- Membership of relevant industry bodies an advantage
- Drivers License (car)
- Supervisor training experience is preferable (e.g., AIM, TAFE, or in-house)
