... About the Role:
The Transport Shift Supervisor will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of transport services during their shift, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Your shift will commence at 11am until close (typically 8-10 hour shifts), overseeing 6 staff members.
- Managing Staff: Supervising the transportation team, including drivers, dispatchers, and other staff, ensuring that they are performing their duties efficiently and according to company policies.
- Monitoring Operations: Ensuring the timely and efficient movement of goods during the PM shift, monitoring routes, delivery schedules, and vehicle performance.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all vehicles and staff comply with safety standards and regulations, conducting safety checks, and addressing any issues related to traffic violations or accidents.
- Problem Solving: Handling any operational problems that arise during the shift, such as delays, accidents, or vehicle breakdowns, and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Tracking and Reporting: Keeping records of operational activities, including dispatch logs, delivery status, vehicle maintenance, and any incidents or deviations from the schedule.
- Communication: Acting as the main point of contact for communication between drivers, management, and customers. They ensure that all team members are informed about changes in schedules, routes, or any special instructions.
- Customer Service: Addressing customer concerns, managing any service disruptions, and ensuring that customer expectations are met with regard to deliveries or transportation services.
- Administrative Tasks: Handling shift-related paperwork, including time sheets, expense reports, and incident reports, ensuring accuracy for payroll and compliance purposes.
The Successful Applicant will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- Previous work in transportation or logistics management is essential. This can include roles such as dispatch, route planning, or fleet management.
- Familiarity with delivery systems, vehicles, transportation software, and scheduling is highly beneficial.
- Valid forklift ticket
- A pre-employment medical examination will be required for all suitable candidates prior to finalizing employment.
