... They have a permanent opportunity for an experienced System Safety Engineer to join their growing team in Adelaide, SA. Supporting Engineering Managers and Project Managers you will be responsible for performing project system safety engineering activities in accordance with the requirements of the Business Management System as augmented by any project specific requirements.
Your new role:
As System Safety Engineer you will:
- Lead system safety activities for the project, serving as the primary subject matter expert and representing the organisation at project safety meetings with the customer.
- Conduct safety assessments for new designs and design modifications, providing critical analysis of potential impacts on system safety.
- Manage and maintaining comprehensive hazard logs and risk control plans, ensuring alignment with Defence safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Represent the organisation at high-level safety working groups and executive meetings, presenting technical findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you’ll have:
- Tertiary Engineering degree (eligible to be MIEAUST) [Essential]
- System Safety qualification, or training [
- Good working knowledge of system safety engineering practices and applicable standards, e.g. MIL-STD-882. [Essential]
- Prior participation in a formal defence System Safety Program.
- Prior experience in performing hazard identification and analysis tasks, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Health Hazard Analysis, Operation Support, Hazard Analysis, Sub System Hazard Analysis, and System Hazard Analysis. [Essential]
- Prior experience in preparing Safety Case Reports, Hazard Logs. [Essential]
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices and applicable standards, eg EIA-632, and/or ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
- Knowledge of risk management practices and ISO 31000.
- Familiarity with the Work Health Safety Act and Regulations. [Essential]
- Awareness of SafeWork Australia Codes of Practice, especially those related to manual handling.
- Exposure to applicable Australian Standards related to one or more specialties areas such as electrical installations, occupational noise, working at heights.
- Ability to work to deadlines with little supervision.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to interpret information of a complex technical nature.
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions effectively and efficiently.
