They have doubled in size in the last year and have gained an enviable position with other consultancies in the residential project space. With a plethora of work coming through from large repeat residential clients, they are looking for a Structural Engineer (Field Engineer) who is specialised in Residential Inspections to join their harmonious team.This consultancy works closely to maintain their strong relationships specialising in new build schemes, renovations and compliance inspections, working closely with architects, builders and certifiers, delivering effective and efficient engineering solutions. Their key focus is on continuous improvement to their customer satisfaction, and being accountable for their work.
Role:
With an exciting and increased residential portfolio, they are currently seeking a hands on individual for their Structural Engineer (Structural Inspections) role, who will be client facing, with the ability to think on his/hers feet, and be comfortable assessing compliance, the progress of the construction and to identify any structural issues to the residential scheme, which are typically medium density 3-4 level dwellings. You will be representing the company on-site and playing a key role in ensuring construction quality and compliance.
Duties:
- Structural site inspections for residential builds and renovations
- QA and compliance
- Report writing based on inspections, providing innovative solutions to problems observed. Provide recommendations based on findings.
- Liaise effectively with builders (contractors), architects, certifiers, and internal engineers
- Liaise with the engineering team to resolve on-site construction issues
- Maintain accurate documentation and photo records of all inspections
- Ensure inspections are completed in line with relevant Australian Standards and codes
Criteria:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Solid understanding of BCA requirements.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential engineering inspections (Sydney experience preferred)
- Full Australian working rights
- Proactive and Positive attitude.
- Australian Recognised - structural engineering background working for a similar firm in a similar capacity (Residential Inspections)
- Proficiency software
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Team player, strong communication and collaboration abilities and also this individual must enjoy field work, driving to sites.
- Knowledge of the NCC, AS2870, and other relevant codes
- Driver’s licence (company vehicle provided)
Advantageous:
- CPEng or working towards chartership
- Familiarity with timber-framed construction, waffle slabs, and other common Sydney residential systems
