The team, focussed on Governance, Cyber and Policy, is responsible for delivering on the conceptual and logical solution architecture aspects for significant initiatives within the state government department.
This encompasses both functional and technical aspects across identified Programs of Work initiatives to design, deliver and upgrade data platforms and various supporting framework systems.
The Solution Architect is required to work with other teams within the department such as Applications, Development, Enterprise Architecture, ICT Infrastructure, Platform and Network Operations, Enterprise Integration Platform , Customer Engagement, ICT Governance, Project Management Office, Cyber Security and Identity Management, etc.
Skills and Experience required:
- Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of on-premises / cloud / hybrid solutions with a strong preference to the Microsoft technology stacks for large, complex solutions with high levels of integration.
- Demonstrable and solid experience with solution (both logical and physical) architecture and practical implementation of stable, viable solutions suitable for the performance specified.
- Expertise in the production of roadmaps and patterns for new and existing solutions, aligned with strategic plans to support efficient reuse of solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver multiple concurrent key initiatives.
- Demonstrated high levels of relationship, communication and negotiation skills.
Desirable attributes
- Solid experience with TOGAF, ITIL and Development Frameworks and associated Release and Change control methods including operational transformation.
- Knowledge of developing trends in solution architecture and implementation recommendations.
- Ensures adherence to the appropriate standards of enterprise and solution architectures (corporate, industry, national and international.)
- Establishes assessment criteria for the appropriate selection of systems architecture components, and co-ordinates design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure consistency.
- Leads the development of architectures for complex systems, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external and internal customers including Business teams and Development/ Technical teams.
As a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for:
- Performing reviews/ recommendations for solution architecture across enhancements to various solutions.
- Performing reviews/ recommendations for the reduction of technical debt/ transitions across private and public cloud platforms, systems and modules.
- Performing reviews/ assessments for transition to cloud-based solutions for some solutions.
- Performing recommendations for future technology directions.
This work will be performed within teams formed to deliver specific initiatives.
The Solution Architect will be associated with all phases of the solution architecture development lifecycle, including migration and enhancements to numerous initiatives.
They are expected to perform to the highest quality standard and operate with a high level of integrity within this large professional development / support team with a focus on delivering client requirements and service excellence.
