Are you an experienced Technical Support Engineer with a passion for RF systems? Our client is looking for a Senior Technical Support Engineer with experience with RF Systems to join their team who has been around for more than half a century!
As part of their technical support team, you’ll use your expertise to troubleshoot, resolve, and provide guidance on complex issues, ensuring reliable operation and exceptional performance of advanced wireless communication systems.
Key Responsibilities:
... - Fault-Finding and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues across network and terminal components efficiently and accurately.
- Provision of Technical Information: Offer detailed guidance and support to customers, ensuring they understand system operations and best practices.
- Customer Report Generation: Produce clear and detailed reports outlining issues, resolutions, and system performance for clients.
- Component and Software Testing: Test and validate network components and software updates to maintain high system performance.
- ITIL-Aligned Incident and Problem Management: Use ITIL principles for organised and structured problem resolution.
- On-Call Support: Be available for scheduled on-call hours to provide critical technical assistance outside of regular business hours.
What You’ll Bring:
- 6+ years of experience in a technical support role within ICT or wireless communications.
- Knowledge of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) technologies such as P25, DMR, conventional, trunking, and simulcast systems. Experience with LTE technologies is also beneficial.
- Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) systems and concepts is advantageous.
- Familiarity with ITIL Service Management principles to ensure structured support processes.
Non-Negotiables:
- A candidate that has hands-on/field experience in commissioning and functional testing of LMR radio site equipment (UHF and VHF). This includes Base Stations, RF combining systems (TX combining and RX multicoupler).
- Experience troubleshooting site related RF issues such as passive and active intermodulation, interference, and isolation issues.
Negotiables:
- Experience with troubleshooting end-to-end radio RF system issues – from the handheld or vehicle radio through to the radio site equipment through to the backend infrastructure. Note this doesn’t need to be Tait technology specific experience, but candidates demonstrating logical troubleshooting processes would be the key here.
- Having knowledge of IP network functionality and troubleshooting.
- Level of experience with Unix (Ubuntu Linux specifically) operating systems and basic command sets.
