About the Opportunity
As a Senior Project Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing financial aspects of asset development, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You’ll work in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment where collaboration and sustainability are at the heart of every decision.
Your key deliverables will include:
- Maintain accurate financial records for asset development projects, ensuring correct classification of capital and operational expenditure. Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including banks and investors.
- Assist in developing Capex budgets, track project costs, and provide variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee lease accounting, loan balances, and interest calculations. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and eliminate related-party transactions in consolidated reporting.
- Support the annual audit processes and manage tax compliance for project-related matters, including GST, corporate tax, and R&D incentives.
- Verify invoices, liaise with banks for facility drawdowns, and support project financing and refinancing activities.
- Assist in optimising financial processes and support the implementation of a new accounting system.
Ideal Profile
- CPA/CA qualification or equivalent coupled with 8+ years industry experience
- 3-5 years in project accounting, preferably within infrastructure, asset development, or renewable energy.
- Strong understanding of Capex/Opex, revenue recognition, financial reporting, and lease accounting. Experience with R&D tax incentives is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial controls, and governance.
- Proficiency in Xero and experience in ERP implementations or financial system enhancements.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
