Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Senior Finance Officer will provide expert financial advice and support across the department. You will play a critical role in coordinating financial management, ensuring compliance, and leading business improvement initiatives.

In this role, you will:
- Lead end-of-month and year-end financial processes, preparing monthly accruals, reconciling general ledger accounts, generating recurring/prepayment documents, and preparing reports to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and legislation.
- Monitor and review monthly cash book and corporate card reconciliations, identifying errors and analysing expenditure to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee the corporate card program, providing executive training and supporting international delegates, and act as an administrator for the Corporate Travel Management (CTM) system.
- Manage the department’s vendor data processes, overseeing both domestic and international payments.
- Prepare and maintain financial registers and reporting activities to ensure compliance with legislation and accounting standards.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of financial policies, ensuring alignment with current legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Provide advanced training and mentorship to internal and external stakeholders, including international network partners.
- Foster collaborative relationships across key stakeholders in Australia and overseas, supporting effective communication and business improvement initiatives.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
The Ideal Candidate (Key Capabilities)
To be successful, you should have the following capabilities:
- Demonstrated experience in a financial management role with strong knowledge of accounting legislation and standards.
- Expertise in accounts payable/receivable, journal preparation, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and implement change in client-focused environments.
- Skill in identifying complex financial challenges and devising effective solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills and resilience, with the ability to manage competing priorities in high-pressure situations.
Qualifications
While not mandatory, a qualification in accounting, business, commerce, or a related discipline is highly desirable and will be favourably regarded.
