The Communications Lead for the CCSO Project Management Office (PMO) plays a key role in developing, designing, and supporting communication strategies that facilitate the successful implementation of projects across various business streams, including High Risk High Harm, Workforce Management, Offender Management, and Outsourced Service Delivery. This role will ensure effective communication practices are embedded in the projects and contribute to the successful transition and adoption of new ways of working in the corrections environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Communication Strategy Development:
- Lead the creation, development, and execution of communication management plans for initiatives across different business units within the CCSO PMO.
- Ensure communication strategies align with the project's objectives, milestones, and deliverables, in line with the department's change management framework.
- Implement best practice communication methodologies and contemporary communication management techniques.
Collaboration with Project Teams:
- Work closely with the Manager Business Integration, Change Leads, Project Managers, Project Teams, PMO Director, and the Manager Transformation Communications (Transformation Office) to ensure communication activities are coordinated across all phases of the project.
- Actively collaborate with Project Leadership and Sponsors to identify and respond to communication impacts specific to each location or business unit.
Change Management Support:
- Assist in driving change resilience by embedding effective communication strategies that facilitate a smooth transition to new systems and processes within the organisation.
- Develop targeted communication and engagement strategies to build business readiness for change and manage expectations across various stakeholders.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making by ensuring open and transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the agency, including leadership, project teams, and external partners, to ensure alignment and support for the change process.
- Take an active role in communicating the department's reform agenda to key stakeholders, ensuring that they are informed and engaged in the change process.
- Manage the expectations of stakeholders by providing regular updates on the progress, risks, and outcomes of the projects.
Risk and Issue Management:
- Provide timely advice to leadership regarding communication risks, issues, and observations related to the transition or implementation of projects.
- Monitor the communication process and ensure that any communication gaps or barriers to understanding are identified and addressed promptly.
Performance and Accountability:
- Promote a high-performance culture by fostering collaboration, personal accountability, and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies, ensuring that they support project goals and contribute to a successful outcome.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on communication progress, milestones, and any emerging issues or risks.
- Analyse feedback from stakeholders and adjust communication strategies accordingly to improve engagement and effectiveness
