Senior API Integration Consultant (API Connect & DataPower)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior API Integration Consultant to lead the architecture, implementation, and optimisation of our client's critical API infrastructure. This role demands a deep understanding of API management platforms and gateway technologies, coupled with exceptional problem-solving and communication abilities.
Role Overview:
As a Senior API Integration Consultant, you will be pivotal in designing, developing, and deploying robust and scalable API solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, optimal performance, and uncompromising security.
Responsibilities:
- API Design & Development:
- Architect and develop RESTful and SOAP APIs, leveraging advanced API management tools and gateway technologies.
- Design and implement custom policies, microservices, and secure API gateway configurations.
- API Lifecycle Management:
- Manage the complete API lifecycle, from creation and deployment to monitoring and versioning.
- Implement and enforce API security policies, access controls, rate limiting, and error handling.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive logging and monitoring practices.
- Integration Architecture:
- Define API strategies and integration patterns in collaboration with architects and engineers.
- Design and implement integration solutions for complex systems, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Team Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Work closely with development, operations, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Provide expert guidance on API best practices, performance optimisation, and security.
- Mentor junior developers, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Performance Optimisation & Troubleshooting:
- Conduct performance tuning and troubleshoot API-related issues to ensure optimal latency and throughput.
- Implement strategies for high-load performance and scalability.
- Documentation & Training:
- Create detailed API documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct training sessions on API best practices and platform functionalities.
- Security & Compliance:
- Implement robust security measures (OAuth, JWT, API keys, etc.) and ensure compliance with industry standards (GDPR, SOC 2, etc.).
- Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and maintain secure environments.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay abreast of emerging API management technologies and best practices.
- Proactively recommend process improvements and innovative solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in API design, development, and management.
- Proven expertise in API gateway technologies and API management platforms.
- Strong understanding of RESTful and SOAP API architectures.
- Experience with developing custom policies, microservices, and security configurations.
- Proficiency in performance tuning and troubleshooting API-related issues.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills.
- Minimum Base Level Clearance
Desired Skills:
- Experience with complex system integration's.
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards (OAuth, JWT, GDPR, SOC 2, etc.).
- Ability to mentor and train junior developers.
