Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, In this role you will be responsible for managing the laboratory team and functions, focusing on the implementation of continuous process improvement initiatives to effect greater plant performance while driving output (cost), communication, 5S, Daily reviews, focused improvement teams and structural improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance/Food Safety
  Oversee QA and food safety programs:
• Supplier and pest control assurance, GMP, and higher-order analysis
• Quality specs, hazard registers, and complaint management
• Calibration, retention samples, and quality records
• Ensure training on Quality, Hygiene, and GMP responsibilities
• Laboratory Management
• Manage all QA/QC systems and laboratory consumables
• Maintain a safe, healthy work environment
• Oversee consumable supply for process control functions
• Leadership & Management
• Lead and manage the team, including performance reviews and development plans
• Drive organisational improvements and productivity culture
• Support change initiatives
• Environment, Health, Quality & Safety
• Ensure a safe and healthy workplace; comply with safety and environmental standards
• Participate in continuous improvement of environmental systems and food quality concerns

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Qualifications
• Bachelor's in Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• Diploma in Management, Food Technology, or similar
• Qualifications in Continuous Improvement Systems (Lean, Six Sigma)
• Experience
• 5-8 years in Quality/Laboratory roles in FMCG manufacturing
• Proven achievements in Continuous Improvement (CI) using Lean or Six Sigma
• Skills
• Strong project, team, and relationship management
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and change management
• Deep knowledge of ISO, FSSC, HACCP, GMP, and Safety Management systems

About you

• Experience in the Food or Beverage industry experience
• External auditing experience/familiarity in food or beverage industry
• Applicants local to the Renmark/Riverland area are preferred. If not from the area, candidates should demonstrate a realistic long-term commitment to relocate
