You require at least an apprenticeship to work as a mechanic. Gain foundational skills in the automotive industry with a Certificate II in automotive servicing technology and join an apprenticeship. After three to four years of apprenticeship, get a tradesperson certificate or a motor vehicle repair licence from an Australian registered trade organisation (RTO) in your state or territory.
