As a boilermaker, you install tanks, vessels and boilers. Your duties include choosing materials for tanks or vessels, cutting metals and assembling metal structures. You are responsible for fitting and welding pieces together to create tanks or vessels, as well as purifying and polishing the end product. You install the metallic structures and test their functionality. You also perform maintenance tasks on the vessels and tanks.

To become a boilermaker in Australia, join a relevant apprenticeship. Boilermaker apprenticeships take three to four years and provide comprehensive training on necessary tools, processes and metals. Combine coursework with on-the-job training to improve your experience. Pursue a Certificate III in engineering and fabrication trade through apprenticeship to qualify for entry-level jobs. Make sure you have the right licence to work in the industry. For instance, in construction, you need a White Card.
