The Property Officer is part of the Risk and Governance department and will work in the Property Management team, The Team acts as the custodian of all Council property and provides for stewardship of the property portfolio including management of Council’s property portfolio in relation to purchases, sales, leases, licences, agreements, road discontinuances and strategic development. We are also responsible for administering all legislation, regulations and guidelines with respect to the management and administration of Council’s property portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, coordinate and administer all requests for landlord consent, as per Council’s lease and/or licence arrangements.
- Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders including conducting title searches, reviewing title search information and interpretation for Council land and roads/laneways (ability to do complex title searches will be valuable)
- Ensure that technical advice provided to other Council areas and to the public is accurate, timely and appropriate.
- Administrative duties including letter writing, filing, research, invoice processing (including rental invoices) and payment procedures as required
- Assist the Property Co-ordinator in the coordination and negotiation of the sale of minor parcels of land, the discontinuance and sale of roads [right of ways] and reserves (previous experience highly desirable)
- Desirable – ability to review and prepare annual licence agreements to tenants at a community hub (template licence available)
Working Relationships
Within the organisation, the Property Officer is required to liaise with both the Manager Risk and Governance, Property Coordinator, Building Operations and Maintenance Team Members and other Council Staff.
External to the organisation, the Position is required to liaise with:
- Council community and commercial tenants, residents,
- State government agencies
- Valuers, Solicitors
- Real estate agents, property developers and other property related professionals.
