As a Project Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of capital works projects. This includes managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder relationships, as well as ensuring projects align with Council’s policies and procedures. You’ll be at the forefront of driving projects from conception to completion, working closely with internal departments and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Project Delivery Team with effective project management practices.
- Draft detailed documents, reports, and presentations for approval and implementation.
- Prepare procurement briefs for engaging consultants and contractors, adhering to Council’s procedures.
- Liaise with Council departments, agencies, and utilities to ensure coordinated and timely project execution.
- Maintain project schedules using MS Project and ensure adherence to timelines.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to align project objectives and resources.
- Conduct on-site inspections to monitor project progress and compliance.
- Communicate project updates, escalating issues when necessary to Senior Managers.
- Track project performance against cost, time, and quality metrics.
- Ensure timely preparation of consultation materials, notifications, and signage for projects.
- Identify and manage risks, ensuring compliance with Council’s policies and reporting protocols.
About You:
To excel in this role, you will bring:
- A background in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing or supporting capital works projects, ideally within local government.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools like MS Project.
- Exceptional communication skills for preparing reports and engaging with stakeholders.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving and risk management.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to conduct site inspections as needed.
