The Company
This large Tier 2 Builder was established in the early 1980’s and services Sydney, NewCastle, Maitland and Hunter regions, and provides specialist buildings for their clients, basically customised, fabricated buildings and shelters. They are a well established financially buoyant firm, well respected and a solid identity in the region, picking up many awards within their respective niche, working on interesting industrial and commercial projects including car dealerships, recreational centres, educational facilities, warehouse and storage facilities.
... Recently they have been awarded a new build project of a warehouse equipment shed, to a mine site approx 3000 sqm, which will harbour large mining machines like the Komatsu 930E mine trucks, with site services and overhead crane to be installed. The successful PM will have a well supported team onsite, as well as from headquarters and should be confident about driving a $25 million AUD Industrial Build (large shed) project.
This role is a contract role for up to 12 weeks, possibly more, and requires someone to start in the next 2 weeks, for a successful handover. A fixed term salary/rate will be based on experience but the successful PM will have use of a company vehicle and shared accommodation in the area if required.
The Role:
You will work alongside a Construction Manager in steering the team to success, taking full ownership of the project, supervising site activities and delegating as necessary. Ideally you will have direct experience managing Industrial Projects with heavy structural steel components including Warehouse’s, Storage facilities and loading docks for Australian Tier 1 or 2 head contractors in Australia. You will have managed projects over $15 million AUD and possess a pleasing portfolio working for Australian recognised Contractor.
The successful Project Manager will have good client relationships, as well as a solid reputation with subcontractors, you must be able to wear many hats, and have hard conversations also. Currently the project is at the roofing & cladding stages with testing & commissioning stages scheduled to commence in the upcoming weeks.
Duties:
- Preparing programmes
- Coordinate variation works on site with an off-site commercial /contracts manager.
- Forecasting
- Budgets
- Closeout of minor design issues with the project design team.
- Costing
- Financial Reporting
- Management and monitoring of the project testing & amp; commissioning strategy
- Manage the preparation of Testing and Commissioning Plans, Testing Specifications,
- Definition and coordination of the testing program for the project, ensuring testing targets and objectives
- being met as defined in the project program
- Defects management and reporting
- Site Inspections, establishment and testing.
- Daily and Monthly reporting
- OH&S
- Subcontractor site Inductions
- Client Care
- Managing onsite issues
- Working to deadlines, contract and project time frames.
Requirements
- You will have a minimum of 10 year’s Project Management experience working on similar projects including 5 years testing and commissioning.
- Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Trade background with extensive relevant experience.
- Professional delivery of industrial, commercial, infrastructure projects end to end.
- Knowledge of construction – including steel and precast – and building codes and regulations
- On-site construction experience
- Commitment to safety and quality compliance - experience with Tier 1 Construction projects
- Multi-project planning and coordination
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Great communicator
- Ability to work with Site Managers, sub-contractors and Contracts Administrators
- Manage project budgets
- Ability to problem solve
- Willing to travel across NSW
- Working knowledge of Jobpac, Procore or similar would be an advantage.
- You will be highly motivated and ambitious with drive and passion in a leadership capacity.
- Confident and looking to exceed in all facets of your work. Delivering on time and on Budget.
