Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project management plans, encompassing various procurement/delivery methodologies, risk and value management, and lifecycle considerations.
- Prepare project briefs, terms of reference for consultants, and consultancy tender documents.
- Ensure designs meet project requirements, are cost-effective, comply with regulations, and align with the project brief.
- Prepare tender documents for Design & Construct (non-traditional) and traditional contracts, adhering to Australian Standards and incorporating non-price criteria.
- Manage and oversee project commissioning, handover documentation, defect liability periods, and building maintenance.
- Demonstrate effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Prepare comprehensive project reports for management and clients.
- Lead project teams, managing competing interests of team members and stakeholders.
- Advise and assist other project managers.
- Maintain project data and systems, adhering to organizational policies and workplace health and safety standards.
- Develop fee proposals and manage project profitability.
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of building projects including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration and post-construction activities.
- Assist in taking responsibility for the quality and suitability of the building product delivered to the client.
- Coordinate the activities of other project staff, external consultants, building contractors, managers and other business units in the achievement of project objectives.
- Provide a high level of contract coordination in respect to traditional and non-traditional contract systems.
- Lead negotiations with consultants, local authorities, internal and departmental stakeholders, the client and contractors to ensure value-for-money solutions are identified and delivered.
- Utilise experience and professional knowledge to add value to discussions and ensure appropriate stakeholder management is undertaken.
- Assist in determining attainable fees for services and generating approval for client billing.
- Ensure all quality assurance procedures are followed.
- Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of staff (where applicable).
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven client-side experience in building construction/upgrade project management within a comparable organization.
- Relevant building construction education.
- Strong understanding of contract law and building industry practices.
- Experience with various contract types and procurement methods (Design & Construct, Traditional).
- Experience with preparing tender documents adhering to Australian Standards and incorporating non-price criteria.
- Experience overseeing project commissioning, handover documentation, defect liability periods, and building maintenance.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate project teams, managing competing interests of team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to prepare project briefs, terms of reference for consultants, and consultancy tender documents.
- Ability to ensure designs meet project requirements, are cost-effective, comply with regulations, and align with the project brief.
- Ability to prepare fee proposals and manage project profitability.
- Familiarity with Principal’s Representative and Contract Superintendent roles.
- Understanding of building maintenance requirements.
