Canterbury Bankstown Council is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to oversee the delivery of a wide range of capital works projects. The successful candidate will manage projects from initiation through to design and construction completion, ensuring they meet the required standards, timelines, and budgets. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with expertise in local government projects to make a meaningful impact on the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the delivery of assigned capital works projects, from design completion to construction handover.
- Review design documentation for constructability and identify possible omissions.
- Develop technical requirements for RFQs and RFTs, ensuring accuracy in specifications and drawings.
- Lead and chair evaluation panels for project tenders and manage procurement processes.
- Act as the Superintendent’s Representative on assigned projects.
- Coordinate and liaise with all stakeholders, including designers, contractors, and internal teams, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Lead project control groups (PCGs), provide status reports, and manage project budgets and timelines.
- Make informed decisions on contractor engagement and ensure quality, value for money, and compliance with engineering practices.
- Monitor and report on project delivery, ensuring objectives for cost, time, and quality are met.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
- Extensive experience managing and delivering capital works projects, preferably within local government.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, tendering processes, and contract management.
- Proven ability to manage projects within predetermined limits of time, cost, and quality.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Strong decision-making skills related to contractor management and project delivery.
