Randstad is currently recruiting an exclusive role for a Production Manager for our clients located in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. You would be joining a company that specialises in the Chemical Manufacturing sector, spanning across paints, stains, automotive cleaning and various solvent-based products.
Do you have experience in managing medium- large teams with exposure to the chemical/dangerous goods sectors? Or maybe you have fantastic leadership skills managing different sites with experience in a Manufacturing/Warehouse setting. If you have over 7+ years of experience with leadership and are eager to get into a role where you can hit the ground running with mentoring and giving direction to a team of 40+ then I want to hear from you!
YOUR DAY TO DAY:
... - Lead and manage the production team, including supervisors, operators, technicians, and staff, to ensure a high level of productivity, safety, and operational excellence.
- Identify training needs, coordinate training programs, and provide coaching to ensure employees are skilled in the safe handling of Dangerous Goods, solvents, and hazardous materials, while fostering a safety-conscious, high-performance culture.
- Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation to meet production targets, maintain product quality and safety standards, and optimise machine efficiency for on-time delivery.
- Ensure products meet ISO (ISO-19001:2015) and regulatory standards, and drive improvements to resolve non-conformance.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits, identify potential safety hazards
- Support the onboarding of new team members and manage performance reviews to develop leadership potential and drive continuous improvement within the team.
- Manage an uncompromising commitment to occupational health, safety and environment (OHS&E)
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in ideally chemical manufacturing, with direct involvement in Dangerous Goods handling, chemical blending, and hazardous materials management. (Open to other manufacturing warehouse environments)
- Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Engineering or a related field (Essential).
- Expertise in maintaining ISO 9001 and ISO 19001:2015 quality systems and driving continuous improvement across the production process.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to give direction to a large team
- Certification in Dangerous Goods Handling and Chemical Safety.
- Additional qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) or Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) would be an advantage
