Randstad has been given the opportunity to recruit for an EXCLUSIVE role for a Process Engineer for our clients in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Our clients are leading heavy manufacturers supporting the Australian transport and logistics industries. Operating for more than 45 years, this role would allow an individual to join a well-established, family run business and be led by a manager who has been a part of the company for almost 20 years!
About the role:
The Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving productivity, and ensuring product quality. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to support production efficiency, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical support to production teams to resolve operational issues.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Ensure product quality by developing and maintaining process controls and Investigate and resolve quality issues to maintain production standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma etc.
- Support the development and integration of new products into the production line.
- Design and test new manufacturing processes and tools.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements and waste reduction.
- Develop budget and cost analyses for production projects.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all manufacturing processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols to mitigate hazards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of production processes, procedures, and reports.
- Generate production reports to track efficiency, productivity, and quality metrics.
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree of Engineering in Process Engineering (Mechanical, steel fabrication, heavy vehicles or a related field).
- 6+ Years of experience in a similar role (amongst Automation Manufacturing is advantageous)
- Experience in production engineering within a manufacturing environment or similar.
- Experience in using CAD Mechanical drafting tool or Inventor 3D modelling software
- Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and processes, such as Six Sigma, along with strong data analysis skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
