Principal Strategic Planner
- Up to $65 per hour
- Contract through to 10th October 2025

The successful candidate will be responsible for specialist planning expertise and lead the delivery of highly complex strategic planning and placemaking projects and services to meet the needs of the community.
...Key Responsibilities
- Act as a technical expert providing leadership and direction to team members in the delivery of strategic land use planning matters to drive integrated and sustainable planning outcomes.
- Provide expert advice in strategic land use planning in accordance with legislative, policy and business requirements.
- Lead the delivery of highly complex strategic planning projects and specialist project teams (including external consultants) to achieve strategic and business outcomes.
- Support the development of team capability to drive a high performance, continuous improvement and customer focussed culture.
- Provide specialist technical input into the development and implementation of key policy relating to the planning scheme, infrastructure planning, significant major projects and key placemaking activities.
- Facilitate project-based community consultation including representing Council at a range of customer meetings, community and business forums.
- Build high level relationships across a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects and service deliverables are achieved.
- Act as a department delegate on a variety of projects, providing a source of professional advice to key stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
- Substantial experience in the delivery of highly complex strategic land use planning projects, including leading and mentoring project-based teams and conducting evidence-based research to inform policy options and directions, planning scheme reviews and amendments.
- Substantial experience in project management and associated risk management practices.
- High level experience providing expert strategic and technical advice.
- Ability to lead projects and teams in response to changes in direction in uncertain or emergent circumstances and in a rapidly changing policy environment.
Qualifications
- Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent
- Current "C" Class Drivers Licence
