We are seeking a Principal Audit Consultant to lead and deliver high-quality internal audit services. This role provides independent, objective advice to executive leadership, supporting the organisation in achieving operational excellence, financial integrity, and effective risk management.

Lead and manage complex audits, including financial compliance reviews, performance audits, special investigations, and probity reviews.
Evaluate the adequacy, efficiency, and effectiveness of internal controls and business processes.
Provide independent, high-level advice to senior management on governance, risk, and control issues.
Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Mentor and support the development of audit team members.
Ensure compliance with professional auditing standards, particularly those set by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
About You:
You are a confident, analytical thinker with a strong understanding of internal audit methodologies and standards. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are capable of working independently to deliver impactful insights. Your ability to engage with senior stakeholders and influence outcomes sets you apart.
You will bring:
- Extensive experience in internal audit, risk management, or related fields
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Excellent communication and report writing capabilities
Technical skills, abilities and cultural capability
- Highly developed audit and project management skills, including experience in conducting a diverse range of audits in accordance with professional auditing standards.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex and unstructured problems, assess their materiality and significance from a business perspective and to advice management on how to enhance operations and the probability of achieving strategic objectives and goals.
- Sound knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire sound knowledge, of legislation and standards governing public sector financial administration and accountability within the Queensland Public Sector.
- Demonstrated high level ability to communicate in both verbal and written form, including the ability to prepare reports, correspondence and submissions and to effectively advise, consult and negotiate with management regarding recommendations made during audits.
