about the job
This is a newly-created role and you will be responsible for:-
Payroll Operations – Ensure high quality payroll processing, issue resolution and business continuity, acting as the point of escalation for any payroll queries.
Talent Development and Engagement – You’ll lead a team of 5 payroll professionals, actively building their careers and development plans, while fostering a positive and continuous improvement-centred team culture.
Strategic Direction – Providing strong leadership, change management and best practice (including systems and technology), cross functional direction, and collaboration for the purposes of business improvement.
about the manager / team
This role reports to the Payroll Manager and there are 6 others presently within the payroll team with varying levels of experience. The estimated total headcount for the organisation including permanent employees and contractors are about 4000.
skills & requirements for the role
To succeed in this role, you must have in-depth knowledge and experience of Australian payroll calculations and processing, regulations, compliance, and best practice. You would also be also responsible for ensuring compliance to payroll tax regulations, employment laws, ATO regulations and internal governance controls for the payroll team. As this role requires being very familiar with EBAs due to the high volume of contractors in the business, 10 years of experience within the construction industry is a must. You should also be experienced in managing a payroll team in a complex and high-volume business and payroll function including weekly and monthly payroll.
