Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure that all relevant information and documentation is checked for accuracy and completeness and is processed in a timely manner.
- Provide timely and accurate advice to managers and staff on matters relating to pay and leave entitlements.
- Maintain and provide advice on superannuation and salary sacrifice schemes as required
- Undertake all the necessary calculations and paperwork for employee commencements and terminations.
- Prepare and process payments to payroll creditors within the required time frame.
- Assist the Supervisor Payroll with the administration of the computerised HR/Payroll system
- (Aurion), including upgrades, testing, modifications, troubleshooting and maintenance as required.
Position Requirements
Essential
- Previous relevant experience in the administration of a Payroll function working with a computerised payroll system preferably within a medium sized, multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to interpret and apply Awards and industrial agreements as they relate to payroll.
- Highly developed organisational and administrative skills with proven ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to apply attention to detail and complete tasks with a high level of accuracy.
- Well developed interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people to ensure delivery of a high level of customer service.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, both as a team member and individually with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook,PowerPoint) and experience in using a computerised payroll system.
- Good written communication skills including the ability to undertake basic research tasks.
Desirable
- Previous exposure to Workers Compensation and superannuation systems.
- Local Government payroll experience
- Experience with Aurion would be advantageous
