Randstad is partnering with a Geelong based government organisation to seek a talented Payroll Officer for a contract role until the end of November with potential for extension.
About the Role:
- Start: ASAP
- End: 11/2024 with potential for extension.
- Pay Rate: $40/hr + super

- Hours: 38 hrs/week
As a Payroll Officer, you will provide crucial administrative and transactional support to the payroll function while delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients. You'll play a key role in promoting compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll data, maintaining confidentiality.
- Prioritize and manage tasks to support the payroll team in meeting targets, timelines, and project milestones.
- Provide payroll-related information, advice, and education to employees, managers, and external parties in line with company policies.
- Follow up on queries and escalate complex or non-compliant matters to the Team Leader.
- Contribute your payroll knowledge to help maintain and develop payroll systems, processes, and procedures, recommending and implementing improvements.
- Create and capture accurate records of business activities related to this position in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies and legislative requirements relevant to the position.
- Perform any other duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Requirements:
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in processing a full range of payroll activities, particularly using an integrated Windows-based HRIS Payroll system.
- Strong keyboard skills and experience with various software, including MS Excel, Word, and Outlook, with high accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer service focus.
- Proven ability to prioritize, schedule, and organize work within strict timelines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Commitment to process improvement.
- Knowledge of various procedures, policies, and operational processes and systems.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
