Join Our Team as a Painter Blaster – Drive Your Career Forward!
We are seeking skilled and motivated Painter Blasters to join our team at Garden Island in Sydney. As a Painter Blaster, you will be responsible for preparing, blasting, and painting a range of surfaces, primarily focused on maritime vessels and infrastructure. You will ensure high-quality finishes, using specialised equipment to protect and preserve the integrity of surfaces in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation: Effectively prepare surfaces for painting and coating by sandblasting, abrasive blasting, or using other methods to remove rust, scale, and old coatings.
- Blasting Operations: Operate blasting equipment (e.g., abrasive blasting machines, pressure pots, etc.) safely and efficiently to achieve the desired finish on surfaces.
- Painting and Coating: Apply various types of protective coatings and paints to metal and other surfaces, ensuring smooth, durable, and even finishes.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and standards, including wearing protective gear and ensuring the work environment is safe and free of hazards.
- Quality Control: Inspect surfaces to ensure proper preparation and coating application; perform touch-ups and repairs as needed to maintain a high standard of work.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all blasting and painting equipment is maintained, cleaned, and stored correctly to ensure long-lasting operation.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other tradespeople, supervisors, and management to coordinate tasks, ensure project timelines are met, and resolve any issues that arise.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in abrasive blasting and industrial painting, ideally in a heavy industrial setting.
- Must Hold a Valid - Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry Ticket to be considered.
- Must be willing to undertake a NSW Police Check
- Knowledge of safe handling and use of blasting and painting equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent understanding of safety practices, particularly in an industrial environment.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience working in a maritime or shipyard environment.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to perform tasks in challenging conditions.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
