About the Role
As Manager Operations, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Waste, Works, and Climate Change teams. This role is pivotal in delivering sustainable waste management solutions, efficient infrastructure projects, and meaningful climate change initiatives.
You’ll oversee capital works programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to the long-term resilience of our community by implementing innovative strategies in line with a circular economy framework. This role also involves managing budgets, engaging stakeholders, and driving organisational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
... - Leadership & People Management:
- Develop and maintain a high-performing team culture with clear objectives and development pathways.
- Lead by example, fostering trust and engagement across all levels.
- Waste Management & Climate Initiatives:
- Implement strategies for recycling, waste minimisation, and circular economy initiatives.
- Oversee climate change adaptation and mitigation projects for Council and the community.
- Infrastructure Management:
- Plan and deliver capital works programs, including roads, bridges, and drainage.
- Ensure projects meet objectives within agreed budgets and timelines.
- Strategic & Business Performance:
- Develop and manage unit budgets, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Provide data-driven insights to guide decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
- Liaise effectively with internal teams, Councillors, government authorities, contractors, and the community.
- Deliver high-quality reports and presentations on projects and initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in municipal waste management, infrastructure services, and contract management.
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of inspiring and managing teams.
- Skills:
- Strategic thinking with the ability to navigate complex environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Expertise in compliance, legislation, and policy development.
- Personal Attributes:
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and resolve conflicts.
- Adaptable and solution-oriented with a commitment to driving continuous improvement.
