As a Lending Officer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including assessing and processing personal loans, handling mortgage purchase and refinance settlements, managing collections activities, and overseeing variation requests.
We are looking for a motivated individual with a DLA qualification and a loan portfolio of $500k to $1 million, who is passionate about making a positive impact and providing exceptional service. This role is based at our Mulgrave branch in Melbourne.
This is an initial 2-month contract until May, with high potential for permanency. The position offers an hourly rate of $35-$37 plus superannuation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with customers to address loan inquiries and demonstrate a strong understanding of lending criteria.
- Assess eligibility, character, affordability, security, and other key factors in consumer credit assessments.
- Process loan applications using the appropriate Loan Origination System.
- Issue approval letters and compliance-related documentation to customers.
- Prepare loan contracts and ensure the establishment and maintenance of proper security.
- Ensure all lending conditions are met, ensuring loan documentation is complete, and facilitating funding according to settlement instructions.
- Identify potential business development opportunities throughout the lending process.
- Perform loan administration tasks as directed by the Loans Manager.
- Comply with relevant regulatory codes, policies, and legislation.
- Prepare and manage discharge requests (inward and outward) for settlement.
- Process loan variations and collaborate with the team to meet customers’ needs.
- Manage progress payment requests for construction lending.
- Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the application process and provide general office support as needed.
- Handle collections activities for the organization.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and policies in all documentation from application through to settlement.
- Collaborate with third-party solicitors to coordinate and complete purchase and refinance settlements.
- Prepare lending data for inclusion in monthly and annual reports.
- Complete post-settlement tasks as needed.
- Work with the Loans Manager to discuss and resolve customer scenarios to achieve the best outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to compliance requirements under Financial Services Reform (FSR) legislation.
- Perform additional duties as required to meet job requirements.
Your Key Attributes:
- Holds a DLA qualification with a loan portfolio of $500k to $1 million, and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a credit/lending environment.
- Previous experience in a Lending or Credit Assessor role is requried
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet service level expectations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Meets organizational competency standards outlined by Financial Services legislation (minimum Tier 2).
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and flexibility to adapt to change.
- In-depth understanding of privacy legislation and related acts pertaining to lending products.
