About the Role
As a Lead Distribution Design Engineer, you’ll manage complex design projects and act as a technical authority, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. You will lead the design process for overhead and underground power networks, providing guidance to your team while delivering exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee detailed designs for overhead and underground power lines, street lighting, and power networks, including subdivisions.
- Collaborate with councils, electrical authorities, clients, and internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Conduct technical feasibility studies, compliance audits, quality assurance checks, and detailed engineering tasks.
- Design assets such as pad-mount substations, feeders, and road-related relocations.
- Prepare and compile comprehensive documentation for design submissions.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering professional growth within the team.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Extensive experience in distribution design for DNSPs, particularly with Energex and Ergon Energy (EQL).
- Strong understanding of HV and LV design, from 33kV to 240/415V.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Background in consultancy or utility environments, with demonstrated project management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Queensland DNSP standards and experience designing systems up to 66kV.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in overhead line design, underground cable reticulation, and subdivision.
- A strong strategic mindset with the ability to transition between strategic and operational priorities.
Must have full working rights in Australia.
