About the role
The Community Development team act as an important liaison between internal and external stakeholders and
work collaboratively across the organisation to bring community development skills, knowledge, and expertise
to Council.
- Support the community development team with the planning and delivery of a range of community programs, initiatives and events.
- Develop and implement activities, programs and events that provide an opportunity for young people to positively participate and contribute to their community.
- Facilitate the Palmerston and Rural Youth Services (PARYS) Network.
- Support the planning for the Palmerston Youth Festival 2025.
- Work with the Palmerston Youth Local Action Group and Office of Youth Affairs to support delivery of the Palmerston Youth Action Plan.
- Facilitate communication, information sharing and relationships between young people, the youth sector, and the community.
- Support the programs and initiatives of other community development portfolios including Children and Families and Community Safety.
What you need:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in Community Development.
- Experience working with community groups and delivering community based programs or events.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise with a wide cross section of people and stakeholders.
- Proven experience working in partnership with a range of stakeholders such as local, state and federal governments, non-government organisations, and the community in a collaborative partnership.
- Proven ability to develop high quality corporate documentation, including project briefs, reports,
- minutes and agendas.
- Demonstrated strong organisational and program coordination skills.
- High level of competency in the use of information technology systems and applications.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required for community events.
- Current NT driver licence
