About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our client's team. You will be responsible for developing Java-based enhancements, designing and maintaining microservices and APIs, and managing database interactions. Your expertise in OpenShift, APIConnect, NestJS, and MongoDB will play a key role in building scalable and secure back-end solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance Java-based applications and microservices
- Design, implement, and maintain APIs using APIConnect
- Work with OpenShift for deploying and managing containerised applications
- Manage relational databases (DB2) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB)
- Collaborate with front-end teams to ensure seamless integration with Angular-based applications
- Work in an Agile development environment, contributing to sprints and team objectives
- Ensure best practices in security, performance, and scalability
Mandatory Requirements
- Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Baseline or NV-1 clearance
- Citizenship: Australian citizenship required
- Experience: 5+ years in Java development, including:
- OpenShift
- APIConnect
- NestJS
- MongoDB
- Technical Expertise:
- Hands-on experience with RedHat & OpenShift for containerised applications
- Strong database expertise, including DB2 (relational) and MongoDB (NoSQL)
- Experience integrating back-end and front-end components with Angular
- Proven experience working in Agile development environments
Desired Skills & Attributes
- Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience working in government or public sector environments
- Strong understanding of secure coding practices and back-end security best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
