About the Role
As a Senior Java Backend Engineer, you’ll play a crucial part in designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems. You’ll work in a collaborative environment, supporting the Cards & Payments stream and contributing to cutting-edge digital projects. This role involves hands-on coding, performance optimisation, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring others in the engineering community.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain microservices and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, Struts, and other modern frameworks.
Write clean, maintainable, and modular code with a focus on performance and scalability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Utilize CI/CD tools for efficient development workflows.
Apply strong debugging and problem-solving skills to support ongoing improvements.
Contribute to the architecture and design of enterprise-grade digital solutions.
Skills Required
7+ years of professional backend development experience.
Strong background in financial services or banking environments.
Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Struts, and RESTful APIs.
Solid understanding of API security and authentication (OAuth, JWT).
Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, or Bamboo.
Strong analytical, design, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React, Redux, Node.js, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk or AppDynamics.
Background in Cards and Digital Payments would be an advantage.
