Get industry experience while you study – and get paid for it.
Victoria University (VU) and Randstad Recruitment have teamed up to offer a new paid internship program for current Building Surveying students. This is your chance to build hands-on experience, grow your professional network, and get a head start on your career – all while studying.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
- Paid experience in real industry roles
- Flexible hours and short-term contracts to fit around your study
- Experience that may count towards your ‘relevant practical experience’ – a key requirement for becoming a registered Building Surveyor
- Build your network and gain insight into your future career
To check the full requirements for becoming a Building Surveyor (unlimited), visit the VBA website.
WHAT KIND OF WORK WILL I DO?
Every internship is a little different, but you might:
- Review and assess building permit applications
- Assist with building inspections and safety checks
- Support enforcement actions (e.g., building notices/orders)
- Work alongside experienced professionals in the field
PROGRAM STEPS
Step 1: Apply
Submit your interest by clicking on apply & submitting your CV.
Step 2: Get Matched
Our recruitment partner Randstad will contact shortlisted students to chat about the roles available and help match you to a suitable internship.
Step 3: Track Your Experience
If you get a role, keep a logbook and get a technical referee to track your hours—this may count towards your registration as a Building Surveyor.
Step 4: Keep Gaining Experience
You can apply for more than one role! Each internship is short-term, so you’re welcome to do multiple placements through this program.
