Human Resources Officer – Local Council
- Contract Duration: Until 2nd May 2025
- Hourly Rate: $61.78 per hour + super
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm (35 hours per week)
- Location: Blacktown
About the Role
Join a local council team providing essential HR and recruitment support. You will assist with HR policies, recruitment processes and workforce planning while ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to key initiatives that impact the entire council workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Advice & Compliance: Stay informed on HR trends, legislative changes and best practices to provide accurate advice.
- Policy & Documentation Management: Develop, review and update documentation, including policies, procedures and position descriptions.
- Recruitment & Workforce Planning: Support recruitment activities, career expos, selection panels and workforce strategy development.
- Correspondence & Records Management: Process documentation, including employee appointments, confirmations, exit letters and leave requests.
- Customer Support & Enquiry Management: Provide timely HR advice and monitor enquiries via the online HR system and email.
- Data & Reporting: Prepare reports and maintain records on programmes, including Employee Development and competency assessments.
- Diversity & Inclusion: Assist in the development and review of Council’s Equal Employment Opportunity programme, including coordinating meetings.
- Training & Employee Development: Support the Employee Development System, Work Placement Programme and workforce planning initiatives.
- Committee & Volunteer Management: Attend committee meetings as a HR representative and oversee volunteer programmes if required.
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications: Diploma or higher in Human Resources, Recruitment or a related field, or relevant experience.
- HR Knowledge: Understanding of contemporary HR practices, policies and industry developments.
- Driving Licence: Current Class C driving licence.
- Experience in local government preferred but not essential
