This is a highly hands-on Financial Controller role within an extremely profitable and stable family-owned organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will wear two key hats: one focused on managing the full operational accounting and finance function, and the other on providing strategic financial control and insights to drive business growth.
Operational Finance:
Oversee the complete accounting and finance function, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all processes.
Manage all aspects of tax compliance and reporting requirements.
Prepare and analyse Profit & Loss statements, cash flow forecasts, and lead the preparation for audits.
Manage the invoicing process, which is directly linked to steel delivery schedules.
Handle trade finance activities and the management of foreign exchange exposure (USD).
Oversee insurance arrangements for shipments and actively negotiate policy terms.
Strategic Financial Control:
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing key financial input into the organisation's strategy and decision-making.
Serve as a primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including the company's bank and clients, fostering strong relationships.
Collaborate closely with the Contracts Manager on contractual matters from a financial perspective.
Effectively manage and develop the finance team (currently two direct reports).
Performance Indicators:
Accurate and timely completion of all accounting and finance functions.
Successful management of tax compliance and reporting obligations.
Delivery of insightful P&L, cash flow analysis, and efficient audit preparation.
Smooth and accurate invoicing processes aligned with delivery schedules.
Effective management of trade finance and foreign exchange exposures.
Optimal insurance coverage secured through effective negotiation.
Development and execution of robust budgets and forecasts that support strategic objectives.
Strong relationships maintained with key external stakeholders.
Effective leadership and development of the finance team.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance, with significant post-qualification experience in a similar role.
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proven experience in tax compliance and reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
Experience managing trade finance and foreign exchange transactions (USD exposure preferred).
Demonstrated experience in insurance management and policy negotiation.
Proficiency in relevant accounting software (e.g., MYOB Advanced) and Microsoft Office Suite.
