Randstad is a preferred recruitment partner for a State Government organisation, currently seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to support their finance team during a critical period leading up to End of Financial Year (EOFY). Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
- Manage general ledger entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes, including EOFY reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Accounting Standards (AASBs) and public sector regulations.
- Assist with the processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activities.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to queries.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure accurate financial operations and reporting.
About You:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–6 years' experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within the public or government sector.
- CPA or CA qualification highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASBs) and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in financial systems, with Oracle experience highly regarded.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical deadlines, particularly during EOFY.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels.
