About the Opportunity
APS4 Scheme Debt Finance Officer, 12-month contract with a strong possibility of renewal. This full-time position offers a flexible, hybrid work environment, ensuring a great work-life balance. The role is based in Richmond or Geelong and some in-office time is required. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to apply.
About the Team
The Fraud Investigations Branch detects and responds to internal and external payment fraud against the Scheme. The branch focus is on protecting the Scheme’s financial sustainability, strengthening fraud control arrangements and supporting the Fraud Fusion Taskforce to strengthen the Commonwealth’s fraud detection and response capability.
The Scheme Debt Team is responsible for the management and recovery Scheme Debt to ensure compliance with legislation and finance law pertaining to the collection, reporting, monitoring and acquitting of Scheme debts. The team supports Scheme payments, creating efficiencies and controls, identifying process improvements to reduce the need for manual payment intervention, and provides appropriate management advice and reports in respect to key financial obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and assist with the Scheme Debt Register, including handling system-cancelled and unrecovered debts.
- Support debt recovery processes per the Scheme Debt Management Policy, coordinating with Providers, Participants, and other business areas for payment arrangements, write-offs, and waivers.
- Prepare and manage invoices, including cancellations of payment requests as needed.
- Contribute to developing Standard Operating Procedures, including creating process maps.
- Extract, analyse, and report data from internal systems for management insights, while addressing queries on pending payments and bank account issues.
