Our client is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Finance Director to lead the financial operations of a prestigious private school on the Sunshine Coast. This is a confidential recruitment process for a school that values educational excellence and operational integrity. The role is urgent, and our client is looking for someone to start in a contract capacity as soon as possible, with the intention of transitioning into a permanent, full-time position following a probation period.
As Finance Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the school’s financial health, providing strategic guidance, and managing a finance team of more than 5 FTEs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within an evolving educational institution.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Lead and manage the finance function which includes:

• Financial Accounting
• Payroll administration
• Accounts payable and purchasing
• Accounts receivable
• Compliance

Provide strategic financial support to the School Leadership, including:

• Developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and financial models
• Overseeing end-of-month (EOM) and end-of-year (EOY) reporting
• Leading funding submissions and managing relationships with auditors

Ensure compliance and internal controls by implementing a robust system to meet regulatory standards and secure financial integrity across all school operations.

Collaborate with School Leadership to support overall operational goals, contributing to a progressive and flexible environment that aligns with the school’s mission and growth objectives.

Selection Criteria

• Proven experience in leading financial operations and managing a finance team, ideally within an education or related sector.
• Strong understanding of financial practices applicable to school environments
• CA or CPA qualified or equivalent qualification
• Able to apply for a Blue Card
• Able to work full time on-site and available ASAP in a contract capacity, with potential for permanent employment following probation
