Are you an experienced Finance Business Partner with strong stakeholder management skills and a background in government-funded projects? We have an exciting opportunity to join a State Government organisation on a 3-month contract, with the potential for extension.
About the Role:
As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role in supporting financial decision-making by providing analysis, reporting, and strategic advice to key stakeholders. Partnering with a Directorate, you will be involved in standard month-end processes, financial planning, and external/internal reporting. Your expertise in budgeting, costing, and performance analysis will be essential in guiding financial strategy and ensuring adherence to policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and interpret financial and non-financial performance data to support complex resource management decisions.
- Assist in preparing business cases, funding proposals, and acquittals.
- Provide scenario analysis, cost modelling, and risk assessment for budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop financial solutions and options for decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with finance policies, procedures, and relevant accounting standards.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to enhance financial acumen and reporting practices.
- Attend Directorate meetings to present financial performance insights and provide strategic recommendations.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at various levels, including Executive Directors, Program Directors, and Cost Centre Managers.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- Excellent relationship management, collaboration, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Strong organisational skills with a track record of meeting deadlines accurately.
- Experience in complex government-funded project budgeting, costing, and reporting, including funding submissions and acquittals.
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse team environment.
- Experience working with First Nations Australians and an understanding of cultural considerations is highly regarded.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in business or finance (mandatory).
- CPA or CA qualification (or currently studying towards) preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and business case development (mandatory).
- Experience with TechnologyOne (Finance One) is highly advantageous.
