A vibrant and busy Tier 3 commercial builder is seeking a key Estimator for their Estimating team. You will be working with a supporting team of individuals pricing projects from $500k to $10 million. On mixed New Build, fit out and heavy refurbishment schemes. Their strategic approach coupled with high commercial acumen and ability to only pursue high calibre driven and ambitious staff has allowed them to triple in size in the last 5 years.

The Role:
With high commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills and a sheer passion for your work you will be required to work well autonomously, but also well within a team, communicating effectively with the team and the General Manager daily.
Your experience will have been gained working for a tier 1 , 2 or 3 builder and ideally pricing on mixed projects for a recognised Sydney Builder over $5ook AUD.
Ideal applicants:
- Ambitious and focused to take the next step.
- 2/3 years working experience, estimating in for a recognised builder in Australia.
- Good knowledge of local contractors and suppliers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or any other relevant qualifications.
- Track record with winning projects valued over $500k.
- Well presented & excellent communicator / negotiator.
- Latest knowledge of Building Codes.
- Analytical with the ability to problem solve and for see buildability issues.
- Thorough understanding of construction methods and standards for tender submission.
- Ability to communicate and handover tender strategy to relevant parties
Requirements and attitude:
- Ideally a Minimum of 1-2 years experience would have been gained pricing projects from first principles, creating accurate bills of quantities based on detailed project design documentation.
- Experience in estimating on commercial projects ideally D&C of educational, aged care residential and government infrastructure projects. These projects also include commercial/office fit-outs, refurbishments and new builds, and some civil structures. The successful person will be able to read design drawings with the ability to solve problems and issues, basically really understanding the methodology of buildings.
- Communication and attitude are key within this role as you will be working closely with subcontractors both onsite, and in the office orchestrating the procurement of quotes from multiple trades, and compiling costs into detailed cost plans.
- Key criteria is to interpret designs and architectural documentation ensuring the project scope is coordinated and communicated effectively to stakeholders. Occasionally rescoping of projects occurs, which will require the successful estimator to obtain / negotiate the best price, to maximise profit for the business.
- Attitude and Energy are very much a key component to the successful Estimator also. This builder has a vibrant and positive focus in all aspects of their daily operations and their Estimator is very much at the forefront of their team, and will be expected to meet with stakeholders and site teams regularly.
