About Team:
The Connected Beginnings program aims to increase Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children’s and families engagement with health and early childhood education and care (ECEC). It improves access to existing early childhood, maternal and child health, and family support services so children are safe, healthy and ready to thrive at school by the age of five.
About the role:
The key role of the program manager is to work closely with backbone teams who are predominately First Nations staff and/or organisations within rural, remote and very remote locations across Australia.
The program manager position is required to liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and service providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership of a small team
- Development of program’s procurement and grant documents including contract management, grant payment system and grant management system.
- Ongoing program management including review of reporting and deliverables, undertaking grant application processing and assessment and managing grant agreements.
- Engagement with grant recipients to assist them to comply with their grant agreement obligations
- Assisting grant recipients to improve access and inclusion for vulnerable or disadvantaged children and families.
- Developing and implementing data sharing, reporting, and evaluation arrangements
- Communicating and engaging with a range of stakeholders, including community and leadership groups, service providers, schools, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCOs) Government agencies and with First Nations Peak Bodies to effectively deliver the program
- providing a consistent level of high quality work
- keeping up to date with relevant changes in a fast-changing environment
- analysis and interpretation of data to identify issues and provide solutions
- Other related ad hoc tasks, as required.
Required Skills and experience:
- experience in program management activities including exercising the judgement and decision making associated with providing advice to grantees and program stakeholders
- ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
- data analysis and reporting
- strong written and communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively, culturally sensitively and positively with internal and external stakeholders
- the ability to exercise judgment ability to work independently, and collaboratively as part of a team and understand the impact of the wider environment on own work and team objectives
- experience with or the willingness and ability to gain knowledge and experience of the strengths of, and challenges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including children and families face.
- demonstrated planning and organisational skills, including ability to meet deadlines with competing priorities and delivering work to a high standard with good attention to detail
