Director, Health Information Services - Melbourne
The Director of Health Information Services oversees the administration and management of this organisation's Health Information Service. You will ensure alignment with the organisation's Mission, Values, and Strategic Plan while incorporating information governance responsibilities. This entails overseeing adherence to data governance processes and privacy requirements at both Commonwealth and State levels for organisational information management.

... - Leads people and process development for continual modernization of services for all stakeholders.
- Implements and leads quality improvement initiatives across departments.
- Oversees planning, change management, and governance of acute, mental health, and rehabilitation Health Information Service, enhancing policy development and process efficiency. Additionally, manages resources, budgets, and service requirements aligned with executive and organisational objectives.
- Efficiently manages the Health Information Services Department across all campuses, prioritising customer-focused, timely, competent, and compassionate service.
- Oversees the provision of medical records and provides advice on health information matters across all acute facilities.
- Develops, implements, and updates policies and procedures for the Health Information Services Department and other hospital policies as needed.
- Manages daily departmental activities, ensuring adherence to standards in medical record management and clinical coding. Additionally, organises and participates in Quality Improvement activities for the department and the broader organisation as necessary.
To succeed in this position you will have:
- Master/Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent Registration
- Eligible for full membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia
- Experience
- At least seven years post-graduate experience
- Extensive knowledge in ICD10-AM coding and knowledge of casemix funding
- Solid understanding of theories, principles, processes, practices and tools relating to data quality and
governance
- Understanding of Private Health sector funding arrangements and impacts
- Working knowledge of WebPAS – Patient Information System
