About the Opportunity
EL2 Director - Finance (Business Partners), 6-month contract with a possibility of renewal. This full-time position offers a flexible, hybrid work environment, ensuring a great work-life balance. The role is based in Geelong and some in-office time is required. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to apply.
About the Role
The position is an important team leadership position within the agency and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail. The role is required to provide leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the team membership and assigned team members working within the work area.
About the Team
The Agency Budget and Financial Control team, part of the CFO Division, provides strategic financial advice and comprehensive financial management services across the Agency. It oversees the Agency’s financial management and Scheme operations, delivering insightful financial reporting to support informed decision-making. The team comprises three portfolios—Projects, Compliance, Analytics and Reporting; Budgets and Costings; and Finance Business Partnering. The Finance Business Partnering portfolio offers tailored finance partnering services, acting as a bridge between the business and the Finance Branch. It supports decision-making through forecasting, reporting, and strategic financial guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical and general accounting and finance advice by partnering with internal and external teams.
- Develop and influence financial strategies, policies, priorities, and operational practices.
- Prepare high-quality written materials, including briefs, reports, and discussion papers, contributing to the Agency Financial Strategic Plan.
- Manage complex or sensitive financial functions, projects, and work programs, while addressing emerging risks and issues.
- Deliver strategic and operational financial, technical, and policy expertise across core financial functions.
- Represent the Finance Business Partnering portfolio on complex issues, engaging with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
