Opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer to join a Local Council on an initial 2-3 month contract. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating, surveying, and designing civil infrastructure, including the preparation of cost estimates and design reports. You will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing Council’s Road, Open Space, and Stormwater assets through comprehensive design, analysis, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design civil infrastructure (footpaths, kerb and gutter, roads, driveways, stormwater drainage, open space, and traffic facilities) manually and using CAD software.
- Prepare quantities and cost estimates for various projects, including capital works, public domain works, and utility restorations.
- Investigate and model stormwater drainage systems manually and using software like DRAIN.
- Manage and oversee Council’s infrastructure assets through data collection and condition assessment.
- Provide advice and assistance to stakeholders, including Council staff, government departments, consultants, and community groups.
- Engage and manage external design consultants for infrastructure projects.
Essential criteria:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience in civil infrastructure design and asset management.
- Proficiency in CAD software and stormwater management software (e.g., DRAIN).
- High-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present and manage community consultations and Traffic Committee Reports.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage external consultants.
