About the Role
Merri-bek City Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Building Surveyor to be an integral part of its Building Services team. This position will play a leading role in supporting the Municipal Building Surveyor (MBS) in delivering an industry leading Building Service. You will play an active role in mentoring junior staff in the Building Approvals team across a range of approval activities.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
- Carry out assessments and inspections for a range of building permit applications and associated Certificate of final inspections and occupancy permits.
- Engaging with customers through coordination of Better Approvals Merri-bek program.
- Oversight of complex report and consent applications.
- Advancement of contemporary building approvals systems, procedures and policy.
Skills & Experience
- Registration in Victoria as a Building Surveyor Unlimited (BS-U)
- An excellent understanding of the interpretation and application of the Building Act and Regulations, Building Code of Australia Volumes 1 and 2, referenced standards and current building practices.
- Proven commitment to a high standard of customer service and enthusiasm for serving all stakeholders, incorporating the capacity to diplomatically handle customer complaints.
- Highly developed capacity to lead, motivate, develop and manage staffing issues in a team leadership role.
