Randstad Data are currently seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join a high-performing team on a 6-month initial contract. This role involves working across multiple projects and supporting operational DBA tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and analytical skills, with a focus on SQL databases and experience in cloud migration to Azure Database platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Migration Projects: Work with project teams to plan and implement technical solutions that meet business requirements. Analyze and document current state environments and design technical requirements for future state environments, specifically focusing on Azure Database migration.
- Database Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Backup and Recovery: Perform necessary database backup and recovery activities as requested.
- Testing: Assist in the development and execution of test plans to ensure quality and functionality.
- Security Management: Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive information and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, the application support team, and other stakeholders to support database-related activities and projects.
- Documentation: Maintain documentation of database configurations and procedures as required to support projects and operations.
Necessary Skills:
- Proven experience as a DBA with a strong background in SQL databases and experience with Azure Database platforms.
- Experience with migration of SSRS and SSIS packages.
- Experience with migration of databases to MS Azure, including discovery and profiling of applications and databases, and migration to managed database services.
- Familiarity with SQL Server Always On HA, and experience with Oracle RAC or data guard is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Prior experience in the Australian utilities sector is a plus.
