About the role
Because of their immense growth in their portfolio, multiple opportunities have come up in one of their offices to join as an Engineering Managers in the regulatory reporting space. The Engineering Managers own the design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of the team owned code and platforms. As well as technology ownership, they also own the hiring, retention and growth and development of a data engineering team that meets the needs of the business and works well within the overall system architecture.
As an Engineering Manager in the regulatory reporting space, you will draw from a deep and broad technical expertise to mentor engineers, deep dive into technical problems, and provide leadership on complex technology issues in the company. You will bring knowledge of and genuine interest in the regulatory reporting and should be able to demonstrate success in prior roles within financial institutions. You will possess deep technical skills and spend majority of your time understanding and uplifting regulatory reporting standards and capabilities by directing and managing the engineers and working closely with data product owners.
Skill Sets
You need to have the following skill sets to excel in this role:
- Relevant experience managing multiple data engineering teams.
- Strong engineering background (preferably SQL and big data)
- Experience in technical advisory and interpretations of regulatory reporting requirements for regulators that include APRA, AUSTRAC and other bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with proven success at delivering complex engineering initiatives.
- Solid understanding of how to build scalable, maintainable and performant platforms.
- Experience in uplifting regulatory reporting capabilities and maintaining and checking the quality of the code.
- Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of the organisation.
- Previous experience in data transformation or Business Intelligence and analytics projects is desirable.
- Mindset of working in ETL, Business Intelligence and data projects
Your responsibilities will include
- Hiring, mentoring and coaching data engineers and aspiring engineering leaders in your teams
- Working on programs that include regulatory reporting requirements of data transformation and data lineage.
- Building a high performing but psychologically safe environment for data engineers to do their best work.
- Running teams, owning tech products, own engineering budgets (including underlying platform, code upgrades, frameworks etc.) and drive the quality of the product.
- Working closely with the product managers and product owners in the regulatory space to ensure the team understands the problems they're trying to solve.
- Accountable for the reliability and uptime of the platform and engineering capabilities that your team owns.
- Managing the scrum and agile ceremonies within your team
