About the Role
Merri-bek City Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Building Surveyor to be an integral part of its Building Services team. The Coordinator Building Services will play a pivotal role in providing leadership and supervision to a number of staff within the building compliance team. You will be responsible for ensuring that all functions and responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the relevant Council policies, Local Laws, and the applicable Acts, Regulations.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
- Ensure that all decisions and/or requests are executed promptly and efficiently within the building compliance team.
- Manage Council’s investigation and enforcement functions
- In collaboration with the Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor, manage the mandatory inspections. Assign and conduct mandatory inspections on behalf of the Municipal Building Surveyor, ensuring registered building surveyors and inspectors conduct, record, and complete inspections efficiently and on time.
Skills & Experience
- Registration in Victoria as a Building Surveyor Unlimited (BS-U)
- An excellent understanding of the interpretation and application of the Building Act and Regulations, Building Code of Australia Volumes 1 and 2, referenced standards and current building practices.
- Highly developed capacity to lead, motivate, develop and manage staffing issues in a team leadership role.
- Proven commitment to a high standard of customer service and enthusiasm for serving all stakeholders, incorporating the capacity to diplomatically handle customer complaints.
